At 9 a.m. on December 11, 2021, the 10th International Conference on Sustainable Development in the Building and Environment (SuDBE2021) was officially opened in Chongqing. Since 2003, SuDBE conference has been held every two years, among which 2015 and 2019 have been successfully held in the UK. This year is the 10th conference. The chairman of the academic committee of the conference is Professor Zhou Xuhong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former president of Chongqing University.The chairman of the conference is Professor Li Baizhan of Chongqing University. The theme of this conference is green building to help carbon peak and carbon neutralization. It aims to advocate interdisciplinary and collaborative cooperation and jointly explore the new direction and mission of green and low-carbon development of buildings under the ‘double carbon’ goal.
The conference was hosted by Chongqing University and the Professional Committee of Green Building and Energy Conservation of China Urban Science Research Association, jointly sponsored by international units such as University of Cambridge and University of Reading. It is jointly undertaken by School of Civil Engineering of Chongqing University, Joint International Research Laboratory of Green Buildings & Built Environments, National Center for International Research of Low-carbon & Green Buildings, Green Building Professional Committee of Chongqing Green Building and Building Industrialization Association, and Green Building Base in Southwest China.
There were 25 overseas participants, including 19 overseas experts from 9 countries and regions such as the UK, Norway, Germany, Finland, Sweden and Hong Kong. More than 150 experts, scholars and student representatives from domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutes, design consulting and equipment manufacturers such as Chongqing University, reading university and Tsinghua University made academic oral reports through online and offline combination. There were more than 10000 online participants and more than 5000 online browsing of conference pictures.
The meeting promoted the national ‘double carbon’ strategic goal and was held in 21 keynote reports, 7 special forums and 2 student forums around the themes of appropriate solutions for urban/building climate, green structural engineering, low-carbon green geotechnical engineering, indoor environment and health and comfort, building energy conservation and performance improvement, smart and low-carbon development of urban gas, smart technology and green operation management.
