Professor Tim Broyd ( Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering), Associate Professor Wei Shen, and Mr. Weibing Liu from the UCL visited the SuDBE Centre. Professor Tim Broyd is the director of the Building Environment Data Center of University College London (UCL), at the Bartlett School of Architecture. Professor Baizhan Li, the director of the Center, Professor Liu Hong, the deputy director, Professor Wei Yu, and Associate Professor Du Chenqiu met with the UCL visitors. They discussed the intention of staff and student training, collaborative research, and the construction of an international communication platform.

Professor Tim Broyd gave a lecture titled 'Digital Transformation and Mega Projects' in the 511 room of SuDBE building. Professor Yu chaired the lecture. Based on Professor Tim Broyd's years of experience in participating in low-carbon building construction projects in the UK, this academic lecture summarized and discussed the current problems and future development directions of low-carbon buildings and infrastructure construction. Professor Tim Broyd systematically explained how to use BIM-assisted design to reduce the cost and development cycle of the entire project and realize the monitoring and measurement of the project operation cycle in combination with the construction case of the British Railway. The 'digital twin' technology, which combines the actual building with its digital model, can realize the monitoring and optimization of the building through the collection and analysis of real-time data. In addition, he also shared some practical cases to show the successful application of BIM and digital twin technology in the digital transformation of buildings. After the lecture, the teachers and students actively communicated, which further deepened the understanding of the digital transformation of architecture.
