On the morning of July 10, 2023, the Chongqing Science and Technology Innovation and Talent Work Conference was grandly held at the Chongqing Yuzhou Hotel. Professor Runming Yao from Chongqing University and her project team members from universities and industries received the first prize in the 2022 Chongqing Science and Technology Progress Award. Professor Yao is the principal investigator of the awarded project "Key Technologies and Equipment of Building Low-Carbon Heating and Air Conditioning in the Yangtze River Basin". The recipients from Chongqing University include Professor Baizhan Li, Professor Wei Yu, Associate Professor Chenqiu Du and Professor Hong Liu.
The project is based on the requirements of the national "dual carbon” target. The project supports the significant needs of buildings to improve operational energy efficiency and control energy intensity. The project mainly focuses on technical problems such as low operating efficiency of existing building heating and air conditioning equipment in the Yangtze River Basin, serious frost in winter, and poor thermal comfort of air supply. The project is supported by national projects, including the National 13th Five-Year Plan of the Key Research and Development Program and the Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The recipients also include Professor Wenshing Shi and Associate Professor Baolong Wang from Tsinghua University, Mr. Defang Guo and Mr. Chao Gu from Qingdao Haier Air Conditioning Electronics Co., Ltd, Mr. Jinbo Li, and Mr. Zhenkun Xu from Guangdong Midea Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd, Mr Chao Gu from China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd, Professor Jian Ge from Zhejiang University, and Mr. Zhiming Li from Guangzhou Huade Industry Co. Ltd. The awards reflected the true collaboration of "industry-academia-research-utilization" to the theoretical research, technology innovation, and product and equipment development.
