On the afternoon of January 10, 2025, the 2024-2025 Academic Committee and Expert Meeting of National Centre for International Research of Green Buildings and Built Environments of Chongqing University (hereinafter referred to as the SuDBE Centre) was successfully held in Chongqing. Guiwen Liu, Vice President of Chongqing University, Academician Xuhong Zhou, the Director of the Academic Committee, Li Zha, the Division Chief of the Science and Technology Cooperation Office of Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau, Prof. Baizhan Li, the Director of National Centre for International Research of Low-carbon & Green Buildings, Prof. Runming Yao, the Director of Joint International Research Lab of Green Buildings & Built Environments, Prof. Hui Xie, the Vice Dean of Institute of Scientific Research and Development, Prof. Jianmin Hua, the Party Secretary of SCE, Prof. Qingshan Yang, the Dean of SCE, Prof. Yuhang Wang, the Vice Dean of SCE, Prof. Yongchuan Yang, the Vice Dean of College of Environment and Ecology, as well as the deputy director of the SuDBE Centre, the director of each institute, deputy director, and the researchers of the Centre attended the meeting.
The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, incorporating both online and offline modes. The co-chair of SuDBE Centre, Prof. Alan Short from the University of Cambridge, Prof. Stuart Green from the University of Reading and FREng Tim Broyd from University College London, committee members Academician Yi Jiang, Academician Jiaping Liu, Academician Kai Cui, Academician Changwen Miao, Academician Jianguo Nie, Academician Jianlong Zheng, Academician Yongzhen Peng, Academician Qingrui Yue, Academician Zhiqiang Wu, Professor Hiroshi Yoshino of Tohoku University, Academician of Japanese Academy of Engineering, FREng Doug King, Prof. Zhibing Mao of China Construction Group, Prof. Zhiwu Yu from Central South University, Prof. Liangjun Da from East China Normal University, Prof. Cheng Sun from Harbin Institute of Technology, Prof. Borong Lin from Tsinghua University and Prof. Qingqin Wang of China Academy of Building Research attended the meeting both online and offline. Invited experts included Bai Li, Vice President of Jilin Jianzhu University; Jin Yang, President of T. Y. Lin International Engineering Consulting (China) Co., LTD, David Hancock, Royal Chartered Engineer, Prof. Darren Woolf, Wirth Research, and Prof. Dejan Mumovic, University College London, Anastasia Mylona, Technical Director of CIBSE, and Julie Godefroy, Head of Net Zero of CIBSE, attended the meeting on site. Prof. Runming Yao presided over the opening of the meeting. She introduced the guests, warmly welcomed the academic committee members and experts, and thanked for the long-term support and guidance of SuDBE Centre.
In her speech, Li Zha introduced the layout of Chongqing's international science and technology innovation cooperation, thanked Chongqing University for its support for Chongqing's international science and technology cooperation, and hoped that the SuDBE Centre could continue to play a leading and exemplary role as an international science and technology cooperation base, carry out extensive technology exchanges and achievements transformation, and help Chongqing play a greater role in deepening the scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation of the "Belt and Road".
On behalf of Chongqing University, Guiwen Liu expressed thanks to the domestic and foreign experts who participated in the meeting, stressed that the university attached great importance to international scientific and technological cooperation, and pointed out that the Centre had achieved excellent results in scientific research, talent cultivation and international exchanges around the national dual-carbon strategic goal, and the achievements had strongly supported the construction of civil engineering, environmental engineering and other disciplines. It played an important role in the "double first-class" construction of Chongqing University. In the end, he hoped for better construction and development of the Centre in the future, and wished the meeting a complete success.
The Academic committee of the SuDBE Centre was chaired by Academician Xuhong Zhou. On behalf of the SuDBE Centre, Bazhan Li made a detailed work report on the general situation of the Centre, scientific research, team building, talents cultivation, operation management and platform construction, as well as the work plan and arrangement for the next year.
The participating academicians and experts highly affirmed the achievements of the SuDBE Centre, believing that the Centre undertook major scientific research projects of national and international cooperation, high-level international cooperation and exchanges, high-level team construction, high-quality top-notch talent cultivation, efficient management and system innovation. It had effectively promoted the rapid development and improvement of civil engineering discipline of Chongqing University. The Centre had played a prominent demonstration role in the domestic counterparts, and had produced a great positive impact. Suggestions were put forward: the Centre should further strengthen the interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation in accordance with the connotation of green building and human settlement environment, pay attention to the basic research of low-carbon green buildings, strengthen scientific research and enterprise cooperation to further implement, actively give play to the leading role of the base platform in international cooperation, according to the major national and international needs, layout the "15th Five-Year Plan" development plan and strategy, and further enhance the international influence.
Qingshan Yang, on behalf of the School, thanked the academicians and experts attending the conference, stressed that the College attached great importance to international cooperation, and hoped that all academicians and experts would continue to support the work of the Centre and the School. Runming Yao thanked the experts for their supports and suggestions on behalf of the Centre, and said that the Centre would carefully sort out the expert opinions, in-depth discussion and implementation one by one. Academician Xuhong Zhou made a summary of the meeting, appreciating the experts for their high recognition of the work of the Centre and their positive suggestions for future work, and put forward expectations for the development of the Centre, hoping that the Centre would combine artificial intelligence technology with disciplinary development, explore in-depth cooperation with overseas scientific research institutions under the new situation, and promote the sustainable development of the Centre.
