On November 24, 2025, Professor David Cooper, the President of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), and Ms. Ruth Carter, the CEO, visited the SuDBE Centre at Chongqing University for exchange and collaboration. Professor Li Baizhan, Director of National Centre for International Research of Low-carbon & Green Buildings, Professor Yao Runming, Director of Joint International Research Lab of Green Buildings & Built Environments, Professor Yu Wei, Deputy Director of the Department of Built Environment and Energy Application Engineering; as well as Professor Li Nan, Professor Ding Yong, Associate Professor Du Chenqiu, and Dr. Han Shiyu from the Centre.
In the afternoon, Ms. Ruth Carter was invited to give a brief introduction to the history and functions of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), guiding students on how to better utilize the institution's extensive resources, including professional standards and specifications. Subsequently, Prof. David Cooper delivered a speech titled "An Introduction to Escalators and Common Issues to Consider" for the faculty and students of the Centre. Drawing on over 30 years of professional experience, Prof. Cooper discussed the development of escalators, relevant standards and specifications, component structures, common malfunctions, accident cases, and preventive measures.
Then, accompanied and arranged by Prof. Xie Hui, Deputy Director the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at Chongqing University, Prof. Cooper and Ms. Carter toured the University History Museum in Campus A of Chongqing University, gaining further insight into the institution's development and remarkable achievements.
